General Information

Founded in 1952, Georgia Tech's planning program is one of the oldest professional planning programs in the United States, with more than 1,000 alumni. Graduates are employed in both the public and private sectors, at all levels of government, by banks, real estate development companies, public utilities, and private corporations. The program is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board; it is the only accredited planning program in Georgia.

The City and Regional Planning Program offers coursework in seven major areas of urban and regional planning: land and community development, environmental planning, transportation, economic development, geographic information systems, urban design, and land use policy. Several types of degree programs are available: the professional Master of City and Regional Planning; dualdegrees with civil and environmental engineering, architecture, and public policy; and a five-year B.S./ M.C.R.P. degree; and the Master of City and Regional Planning concurrent with the Juris Doctor (Law) degree at Georgia State University.
