Bachelor of Science in Chemistry - Materials Option
Advances in new materials have rapidly been introduced over the past 20 years in the US. Recent scientific discoveries range in everything from rewritable CDs to materials designed for stealth technology on airplanes. The School of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers interdisciplinary training for students who desire to understand synthesis, characterization, and application of new organic and inorganic materials. The BS in Chemistry (materials option) consists of a coursework in fundamental areas of chemistry combined with coursework from the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Graduates of the BS in Chemistry (materials option) are equipped to pursue successful careers in materials research, continue their education with graduate studies in chemistry or allied disciplines, or take positions in industry or governmental organizations.
